CHATEAU DE BELOEIL - THE BELGIAN VERSAILLES
TOUR & AMARYLLIS EXHIBIT
April 12th - 2PM
The Castle of Belœil in Hainaut has been the symbol and residence of the Prince de Ligne family—one of Europe’s oldest noble families—for over 800 years. Originally built as a medieval fortress, it gradually evolved into an elegant residence.
The Ligne family, whose origins date back to the 11th century in the nearby village of Ligne, served many European rulers, including those of Hainaut, France, Burgundy, Austria, and Belgium, while remaining closely connected to their region. The castle entered their possession in the 14th century through the inheritance of Catherine de Condé.
Over time, the family expanded and redesigned the estate while preserving features like towers and moats. Today, the castle reflects the long history, influence, and heritage of the Ligne family.
From April 4 to April 12, the château becomes an immersive journey blending colors, volumes, and floral craftsmanship. More than 7,000 amaryllis and contemporary creations fill the rooms, offering a unique spring experience to enjoy with family or friends.
