    NUTS weekend in Bastogne!

Join us for a full day of WWII history in Bastogne visiting 3 key historical places:  The Bastogne War Museum and Mardasson Monument, War Rooms and Bois Jacques Battlefield.

Our day will start at the spectacular Bastogne War Museum at 10:00 which takes about 2 hours. There is a cafeteria onsite where we can have a simple lunch (each person pays their own lunch).  After lunch we will view the Mardasson Monument.

Next we will go on to the Bois Jacques Battlefield, the scene of terrible fighting between the American and German armies, where you can still see the famous "foxholes" that soldiers dug to protect themselves.  Through an augmented reality mobile application, visitors can immerse themselves in the lives of American soldiers on this battlefield.

Last but not least we will visit the Bastogne War Rooms. This is an iconic location, Brigadier General McAuliffe’s historical cellar where on December 22, 1944, uttered his famous "NUTS" response to the surrender request from German forces besieging the town of Bastogne.

In addition, the following activities will be taking place throughout the day:

    • Meet & Greet with World War Two veterans

    • Reenactment camp (with reenactors, tents, dioramas and WW2 military vehicles)

    • Workshops on the civilian life

    • Demonstration of the Enigma decryption machine

    • Screening of documentaries (with participation from directors and civilian witnesses)

    • Book signing session with authors on the Battle of the Bulge

    • History book and document exchange

    • Guided tour of the Bois Jacques battlefield by the non-profit organisation ‘Bastogne Memorial’

    • Musical entertainment

The American & Canadian Reading Group

On the second Wednesday of the month, from 19:00  to 21:00 you are invited to join our Reading Group to discuss the book-of-the-month, written by an American or Canadian author. We meet once a month, our evening get-together is in the Brussels area.

    Reading Group guidelines/criteria:

We look for great authors who write in English, available for purchase in shops or online, not more than 300-400 pages, and prefer those that have a score of at least 4/5 on Goodreads.  The books do not have to be recent; they can also be ones you loved, and we might have missed.

Interested in joining the Reading Group?

The Reading Group meets in member's homes in Brussels and the surrounding area.  As such, it is restricted to members of the AWCB and ACB.  Current members of the AWCB and ACB are encouraged to reach out bookclub@awcb.org with any questions.

Non members can find the conditions to join either club on their respective websites

A Discovery Tour of Sake tastings

    and more!

    Thursday, February 19th  · 7:30 - 10:30pm

Le Comptoir Rodin, Avenue Auguste Rodin 8 1050 Ixelles

Having recently spent three weeks in Japan, Brandon came back very enthusiastic on many levels. Sake—which, in Japanese, literally just means “alcohol”—was one of them. Not only did it pair perfectly with most Japanese food, but it opened up a whole new spectrum of aromas not frequently found in wines.

For our Feb. 19 tasting, we’ll crack open at least eight Japanese sakes, and just maybe a plum wine for good measure, and learn all about how the different rice varieties, yeasts and polishing can produce a vast spectrum of aromatic alcohols every bit as versatile as white wines.

All the sakes will be paired with plenty of good food.

Brasserie de la Senne Beer Tour

and Visit of Tours & Taxis

    March 7th 2026 @3pm

At the beginning of the 20th century, Brussels boasted around a hundred breweries. Following the World Wars, industrialization, and the standardization of tastes, only one remained until Bernard met Yvan in 2002. Together, they created Brasserie de La Senne. Standardized, sweet beers gave way to more bitter ones. Today, operating in a 4,500 m² facility at the Tour & Taxis site, they have harnessed technology to enhance their beers. During this tour, you will have access to the production area, an opportunity to discover how craft beer is made in such impressive facilities. Finally, we will conclude the tour with a guided tasting of four of the brewery's flagship beers.

Along the port avenue, between the city of Brussels and Molenbeek, lies the Tour & Taxis site… Some work there, others stroll through its greenest corners, some have experienced memorable events there, the older residents remember picking up packages at the post office, and historians see it as a testament to our capital's glorious industrial past: the name "Tour & Taxis" resonates with every Brussels resident. And finally, what do you know about this place? We invite you to discover this incredible site.

We will start with a guided tour of Tours & Taxis site at 3pm sharp. Meeting point is at the info kiosk in the Royal Depot (first pic above). Public parking is available on site. Here is a map of the site that you can also access HERE

The guide will then walk us to the Brasserie de la Senne for a visit of the production site and a tasting of 4 of their best beers!

The visit should end around 5.45pm.

    ACB FINAL FRIDAY COCKTAIL

    April 24, 18:30 - 21:30

Corinthia Brussels - Under the Stairs Bar

    Rue Royale 103, Brussels

Join the American Club of Brussels for our monthly Friday drinks at the beautiful Corinthia Brussels on April 24, 2026.

For those who are new to the ACB and our Friday drinks, each month we meet at a location around Brussels for our monthly get-together. This is a great opportunity to mingle and socialize with new and old friends in Brussels in a fun and relaxing environment. So, bring your friends, all are welcome!

This month we are back at the stunning Corinthia Brussels, formerly the Grand Hotel Astoria on Rue Royale where they have blended historic charm with modern elegance to fully transform into a luxurious Belle Époque-style hotel. Because we had so much fun at their Under the Stairs Bar, at our sold out, September Final Friday Cocktail, we are going to return there for our April Final Friday Cocktail!

More than just a bar, Under The Stairs is a beautiful, refined yet welcoming space for hotel guests and locals alike, offering an extraordinary drinking experience.  Showcasing a meticulously curated selection of cocktails blending global influences with local ingredients, guests can expect innovative and modern twists on classic drinks that have been invented throughout the last century in hotel bars all over the world.

From complex spirit-forward statements to non-alcoholic surprises, the menu is a celebration of contrast, craft, and creativity, offering a new perspective on Brussels’ cocktail scene.
