According to annual traditions, the Royal Greenhouses in Laeken will be open to visitors in spring. Beginning in 1873, Alphonse Balat, an architect and tutor to Victor Horta, designed a greenhouse complex to complement the Palace of Laeken's classical style. The greenhouses were designed to offer the silhouette of a glass city, nestled into the undulating park landscape.
