An introduction to the World of Whiskies

Have you ever wanted to learn more about whisky (but didn’t dare to ask)?

Here is a unique opportunity for you to discover the world of whisky while having fun.  The tasting session will take place at Mig’s World Wines, a purveyor of fine wines and spirits, and led by Ray Walker who has been Mig’s whisky collaborator for the past 5 years.   

You will be sampling six different whiskies and we will finish with a tasting of Mig’s personal and rated 5-year old Belgian Owl Whisky. 

You will also:

  • taste the four main types of whisky
  • identify the two methods of distillation used to produce whisky and the grains they use
  • appreciate the importance of blending
  • And understand the two factors that most influence the final taste:
    • the use - or not - of peat in the production of a single malt whisky
    • the barrel(s) the whisky has been matured in as up to 70% of the final taste of the whisky comes through the interaction of the whisky with the wood of the barrel.

The price includes the tasting of the whiskies, snacks, smoked salmon sandwiches, explanatory notes and a great atmosphere. In addition, Mig’s will offer a 10% discount of any sales made on the evening. 

Please note that this visit is limited to 15 people.

Cancellations are possible until noon on Monday, February 18. Participants canceling after this time, as well as no-shows, are charged the full cost of the event.
