Guided Visit of
the Jewish Museum of Belgium and
the Great Synagogue of Europe

Located in a 19th century maison de maître just steps away from the Grand Sablon, the Jewish Museum of Belgium houses a fine collection of religious objects dating from the 16th century, as well as documents, photographs, and books that illustrate traditional Jewish home life and customs in Belgium and beyond. On the artistic front, there are works by Pierre Alechinsky, Marc Chagall, Max Liebermann, El Lissitsky, Felix Nussbaum, Chaïm Soutine, and Ossip Zadkine.

We will be welcomed by Baron Georges Schneck, the museum President, and Philippe Blondin, the Secretary-General of the museum. One of the English-speaking curators will guide us through the collection. The visit should last about one hour and a half.

We will then stroll up the hill to the Great Synagogue of Europe, where Albert Guigui, the Chief Rabbi of Belgium, together with Philippe Markiewicz, President of the Communauté Israélite de Bruxelles, will be expecting us. Following our private tour of the 19th century Romanesque-Byzantine style synagogue, we will be served a Kosher lunch.

This very special visit promises to be interesting and enlightening.
