Board
holds an off-site Strategic Session
Last January, 17
enthusiastic Board members got together on a Saturday morning to
brainstorm how best to serve members and
attract new ones in the coming years. Thanks to First Vice President,
Mélissa Rancourt, who
facilitated this fun and collaborative session, participants discussed
their vision for the ACB and defined priorities for 2018. Many ideas for
growth, branding and activities were discussed and will be
decided upon at the February Board meeting.

After meeting
Peter Forrest, ACB new President, in the January newsletter, learn more
about our First Vice-President, Melissa
Rancourt this month.
For those of you
who have seen Melissa’s Ted Talk in Brussels, you may already be aware of
her serendipitous journey to move here (TED talk: https://youtu.be/SB_EAgpIg1g). Her
first day in Brussels, with suitcases & cat in-hand, coincided with the
unexpected closure of her new employer, a blue-sky technology think
tank. Her journey eventually led her to her entrepreneurial vision
resulting in the 3 companies that she has today. One of which, aptly
named, is Serendipity.
On any given day,
you can find her jumping around town – or on planes – helping to lead the
incredible teams of greenlight for girls (www.greenlightforgirls.org), in which she is
the Founder, her engineering firm (www.greenlight-project.com) and wellness
organization (www.serendipspa.com). Or
you may find her teaching as she leads the Executive Master of Science
degree on strategic design thinking for Parsons School of Design in NYC,
Paris & Shanghai (www.newschool.edu/DesignGoesGlobal).
Melissa is an American and
Belgian citizen, Italian-born and Greek & French descent. She has
lived in 10 US States and has resided in Brussels for more than 15
years. She is an alum of Rochester Institute of Technology for her
engineering degree and of Babson College for her entrepreneurship MBA. She
has held Board positions for various professional associations for over 20
years. Within her role as Vice-President of ACB, Melissa is
facilitating the strategy work to expand the club’s offering &
membership using strategic design thinking tools and methods with the ACB
Board.
